Overview

Dandy's World is a mascot-horror survival game on Roblox where you play as a Toon descending floor by floor. Your goal on each floor is to complete extraction machines, collect Tapes, avoid the roaming Twisteds, and reach the elevator alive. The deeper you go, the more machines and Twisteds spawn, turning every run into a test of nerve, routing, and resource management. This beginner guide walks you through the fundamentals before you dive into deeper strategy.

Objective:Complete machines, ride the elevator down, survive each floor
Main Currency:Ichor (earned from runs and codes)
First Toon:Poppy - beginner-friendly and forgiving
Threat:Twisteds - hostile Toons with line of sight cones

Watch the Full Beginner Walkthrough

This video breaks down how to reach Floor 20 and beyond, covering Toon selection, the best starter Trinkets, and how to survive chases. It pairs perfectly with the steps below and shows real in-game examples of looping Twisteds and managing stamina. Watch it before your next run to internalize the survival loop.

Your First Run, Step by Step

Every run follows the same loop: enter the elevator, descend, complete enough machines to power the exit, then escape. The earlier floors are gentle, giving you room to learn movement and machine minigames before the Twisted count climbs. Master this rhythm on Floors 1 to 5 and the rest of the game opens up.

1

Pick a Toon in the lobby

Choose Poppy as your first Toon - she is beginner-friendly with balanced stats. Browse other options on the all Toons list once you own more.

2

Enter the elevator and descend

Walk into the elevator and wait for it to start. Each floor generates a new layout with machines, items, and Twisteds distributed around it.

3

Complete machines to fill the meter

Approach a machine and complete its skill-check minigame. Once enough machines are done, the elevator opens for the next floor.

4

Collect Tapes and Ichor along the way

Grab Tapes scattered on the floor and pick up Research Capsules for Ichor. Avoid Twisted Rodger's trap capsules that have no film tape around them.

5

Escape to the elevator alive

Once machines are done, rush back to the functional elevator. Avoid the taped-off fake elevator and never linger during Panic Mode.

Two elevators spawn on every floor - one real, one taped off with yellow 'DO NOT OPEN' tape. Always confirm which one is functional before Panic Mode begins.

Core Mechanics to Learn First

These five systems define almost every decision you make. Understanding them early prevents wasted runs and lost hearts. Each one ties into your broader progression, from earning Ichor to unlocking Trinkets and Vintage skins through Mastery tasks.

Line of Sight (LOS)

Twisteds detect you through a cone in front of them plus a small bubble. Break LOS behind cover to start their attention-span timer.

Machines & Skill Checks

Complete machine minigames to power the elevator. Missed skill checks alert nearby Twisteds, so stay calm and focused.

Research

Encounter Twisteds and collect capsules to fill Research meters. Reaching 100% on a Twisted rewards you with a Trinket.

Ichor & Tapes

Ichor buys Toons, Trinkets, and skins; Tapes feed progression. Earn both from every run and from active codes.

Mastery Tasks

Finish six tasks per Toon to unlock their Vintage skin. Team up with friends to clear them faster.

Mastery rewards the Vintage skin for that Toon once all six tasks are done. Playing with friends is the fastest way to grind task progression.

Currencies and What They Buy

Dandy's World runs on Ichor and Tapes, with Trinkets as the gear layer. Knowing where each comes from and what it unlocks helps you plan which Toons and loadouts to chase first. Codes are a free and easy boost, so redeem them often.

ResourceHow You Earn ItWhat It Unlocks
IchorCompleting runs, picking up capsules, redeeming codesToons, Trinkets, and skins from Dandy's Shop
TapesCollected during floors and from machinesProgression and run rewards
ResearchEncountering Twisteds (once per floor) and capsules100% rewards a Trinket for that Twisted
TrinketsBought with Ichor or earned via 100% ResearchStat boosts like speed, stamina, and extraction
CodesRedeemed in the lobbyFree Ichor and bonuses
Some Trinkets can hurt your run, like Coal or Brick, and one-time-use Trinkets become dead slots after their effect is spent. Read descriptions before equipping.

What Are Twisteds?

Twisteds are the hostile, corrupted forms of Toons that roam each floor hunting players. Each one has a line of sight cone, a small proximity bubble that triggers an instant chase, and an attention-span timer that ticks down once you break LOS. Some, like Twisted Shrimpo, have much larger detection ranges than others.

Two Twisteds spawn on Floor 1, and the count climbs as you descend, capped at eight in multiplayer or six on a solo run. Main Character Twisteds begin appearing from Floor 5 onward, so the danger curve steepens fast once you pass that milestone.

When you are chased, stay calm and head for an 'island' - a solid object you can circle - rather than a dead end. Losing sight long enough lets a Twisted de-aggro and wander off. Read the full breakdown in our how to survive guide and study each threat on the all Twisteds page.

Beginner Survival Tips

These habits will keep you alive through the early floors and build a foundation for deeper runs. They cost nothing to learn and pay off on every descent.

  • Pick Poppy first - she is the most forgiving starter Toon while you learn movement and machines.
  • Never sprint unless you need to; save stamina for actual escapes instead of panic running.
  • Keep at least 120 stamina before entering risky spots near Twisteds.
  • Avoid dead ends and pockets where a Twisted can corner you.
  • Watch out for Twisted Rodger's capsules, which have no film tape and can damage you.
  • Redeem codes often for free Ichor to accelerate your early Toon and Trinket unlocks.
  • Play with friends when possible - solo is slower and far less forgiving.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best first Toon in Dandy's World?

Poppy is the most beginner-friendly starter Toon thanks to balanced stats and forgiving gameplay. Once you earn more Ichor you can branch into stronger picks from the <a class="text-primary/80 hover:text-primary" href="/characters/all-toons">all Toons</a> list.

How do I earn Ichor fast?

Complete runs, pick up Research Capsules, and redeem <a class="text-primary/80 hover:text-primary" href="/codes">codes</a> in the lobby. Solo runs give more Ichor per run but are riskier for new players.

What does completing a machine do?

Each machine you finish powers the elevator. Once enough machines are done the elevator opens and you can descend, but beware of missed skill checks alerting nearby Twisteds.

How do Twisteds detect me?

Twisteds use a line of sight cone plus a small proximity bubble. Break their line of sight behind cover and wait out their attention-span timer to make them de-aggro.

What is Mastery and what does it give?

Mastery tasks are six objectives per Toon. Finishing all six unlocks that Toon's Vintage skin, which you can read about in the <a class="text-primary/80 hover:text-primary" href="/skins/skins-guide">skins guide</a>.

Are some Trinkets harmful?

Yes. Trinkets like Coal or Brick can hurt your run, and one-time-use Trinkets become dead slots after their effect ends. Always read descriptions on the <a class="text-primary/80 hover:text-primary" href="/trinkets/best-trinkets">best Trinkets</a> page.

How many Twisteds spawn per floor?

Two spawn on Floor 1 and the count rises as you descend, capped at eight in multiplayer or six during a solo run. Main Character Twisteds can appear from Floor 5 onward.

Should I play solo or with friends as a beginner?

Play with friends while learning. Solo runs give more Ichor but are slower and far less forgiving, so save them for when you are experienced.
