Twisted Waxwell in Action

This encounter footage showcases the newest Rare Twisted, Waxwell, who leaves blazing fire trails and carries a buff aura that empowers nearby threats. Watching his U-turn behavior and shrinking circle helps you recognize the telltale signs of a support-style Twisted. For a deeper breakdown of his unique kit, see the Twisted Waxwell guide.

Notable Twisteds by Rarity

The table below highlights representative Twisteds from each tier and how they behave on a floor. Roamers wander the halls, stationary threats anchor to a spot, and ranged Twisteds strike from a distance. Pair this with the full Toon roster to pick counters that exploit their weaknesses.

The Five Rarity Tiers

Every Twisted falls into one of five tiers that dictate spawn weight, damage, and recovery time. Commons dominate early floors, while Mains and Lethals define late-run danger. Understanding the ladder helps you read a floor fast and route safely, especially when you reference the floors guide for pacing.

Common

Weight 75. No abilities usually; reflects the Toon's stats. Shrimpo and Brusha are staples here.

Uncommon

Weight 25. Subtle threats that reshape how you move, like Brightney's Blackout re-roll.

Rare

Weight 10. Distinct mechanics such as Goob's grab or Waxwell's buff aura.

Main Character

Weight 0 to start, ramps up. Two-second hit cooldown and powerful kits like Vee's global hearing.

Lethal

Deals 99 damage. Dandy and Dyle can end a run in a single touch, so avoid contact entirely.

Rarity weights are fixed at 75/25/10/0 at the start. Mains only begin appearing from Floor 5 onward, with a forced Main every 20 floors and a forced Rare every 15.

Spawn & Scaling Over a Run

Twisteds multiply as you descend, and rarity odds shift with them. Knowing the breakpoints lets you anticipate when the run gets lethal, which pairs well with solo run strategy. The system rewards proactive routing over reactive panic.

1

Start with two Twisteds

Every run begins with a base of two Twisteds per floor, scaled further by player count and depth rather than by who is alive when a slot rolls.

2

Rares scale from Floor 5

Rare weight gains one unit every two floors starting at Floor 5, while Main weight climbs by four units every five floors, steadily tilting the mix toward danger.

3

Hit the population cap

Twisted count maxes at eight with a full lobby, or six when you are the last Toon standing, so lone-wolf runs stay navigable if you manage stamina well.

4

Guaranteed spikes

A Main Character is forced every 20 floors and a Rare every 15, creating predictable pressure windows you can prep consumables and cooldowns for in advance.

Twisteds do not despawn if teammates die mid-floor. Population only changes on the next floor's generation, so do not count on a death to relieve pressure.

Behavior: Roaming, Stationary & Ranged

Most Twisteds roam aimlessly between pathing nodes, pausing about two seconds at a dead end before turning around. They chase on sight and break off when you escape their vision cone or reach the elevator. Ranged threats like Goob and Scraps need line of sight to connect, so weaving around islands and furniture breaks their attacks.

Stationary Twisteds such as Rodger and Razzle & Dazzle anchor to a spot and punish careless interaction. Rodger disguises himself as a fake Research Capsule, while the fused pair erupt into vines if you sprint inside their circle. Walking calmly and verifying capsule authenticity prevents most trap deaths.

Failed Skill Checks & Aggro

Failing a Skill Check sends nearby Twisteds to investigate the machine, and a few hear it from anywhere on the floor. Twisted Vee, Twisted Astro, Twisted Dandy, and Twisted Dyle will sprint to the source no matter where they roam, so misclicks can cascade into a multi-threat pull. Equipping Mime Makeup negates this aggro entirely.

When you do get hit, a short grace period pauses other Twisteds' damage, which is why letting a weaker Twisted tag you can buy escape time from a Lethal. The attacker pauses about three seconds (two for Mains, six for Bobette), so use that window to reposition. Brush up on fundamentals in the beginner guide.

Research & the Daily Twisted Board

Encountering a Twisted for the first time on a floor grants five Tapes and bumps Research progress by five percent, doubled to ten if you play Rodger. Dying to a Twisted does not affect Research, so aggressive scouting is low-risk for completionists chasing the Ichor economy.

 • The Daily Twisted Board refreshes at 12am GMT and boosts one Twisted's spawn rate for 24 hours.
 • The featured Twisted can never be Common or Lethal, but seasonal event Twisteds are eligible while their event is live.
 • Previous board selections do not influence future days, so each refresh is an independent roll.
 • Use the daily boost to grind Research on a specific target, or reroute when a dangerous Twisted is featured.
 • Research milestones unlock cosmetic and lore rewards tracked in your Journal.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Twisteds can spawn on one floor in Dandy's World?

A run starts with two Twisteds and scales up to a cap of eight in a full lobby, or six when you are the last player alive, scaling with depth and player count.

What rarity of Twisted deals 99 damage?

Only Lethal Twisteds deal 99 damage. Twisted Dandy and Twisted Dyle are the Lethals, while every other tier removes exactly one heart on contact.

When do Main Character Twisteds start appearing?

Main Characters have a starting weight of zero and begin scaling in from Floor 5, gaining four weight units every five floors, with a guaranteed Main every 20 floors.

Which Twisteds hear failed Skill Checks from anywhere?

Twisted Vee, Twisted Astro, Twisted Dandy, and Twisted Dyle respond to failed Skill Checks from anywhere on the floor. Equipping Mime Makeup negates this.

What does the Daily Twisted Board do?

It boosts one Twisted's spawn rate for 24 hours starting at 12am GMT. The featured Twisted is never Common or Lethal, helping you grind specific Research.

How does Twisted hit cooldown work?

Most Twisteds pause about three seconds after hitting you, Main Characters pause two seconds, and Twisted Bobette pauses six seconds. A global grace period also briefly shields you from other Twisteds.

Do Twisteds despawn when teammates die?

No. Twisteds stay for the entire floor. Population changes only apply to the next floor's generation, so a death mid-floor will not relieve the current pressure.

Is Twisted Waxwell dangerous?

He is the first Twisted unable to damage players directly, instead buffing nearby Twisteds with an Ignited aura. See the Twisted Waxwell guide for counters.
